When speaking about the “passenger experience,” and taking inspiration from the beautiful retail spaces in the world’s leading airports, it becomes clear that it is necessary to move beyond the more standardized concepts of duty-free design and translate inspiration into the “wow effect” that passengers should feel. Following this idea, the shop has been designed to reflect the joyful spirit of its urban context, inspired by the environment and colors of the city and the region. It is set within a chromatic backdrop—a palette drawn directly from the city itself—combined with local design elements to enhance the sense of place.
Together with the blue sky and the sea, Naples’ colorful and vibrant urban character merges into a harmonious image. This harmony is expressed from the very entrance of the store through the integration of the retail offering, representing both the most internationally recognized and the more local excellences of Made in Italy.
This harmony finds its natural frame on the right side of the shop, dedicated to Italian and local premium assortments. Here, a certified blue gradient wallpaper applied to plasterboard creates a backdrop for the shelving, further enhanced by a frame of natural light achieved through the partial opening of the existing glass façades. This blue background continues onto the ceiling, evoking the sunny sky of Naples, while dark beige marble tiles reinforce the atmosphere of a Mediterranean marketplace in this area.
