The inspiration for this shop is the urban face of Düsseldorf with its dynamic, young and free spirit.
Natural materials, shapes, and regional icons inspire the materials chosen for each shop, while the unique experiences and activities of the region are beautifully woven into the design, décor, and styling.
The material palette blends raw textures with vintage character, a hint of rebellion, and an industrial edge. Artistic, graffiti-style wallpapers animate the flexible back-wall system, while each warehouse door features a dedicated selfie spot that adds a playful, interactive layer.
The open ceiling, finished in dark tones, enhances the sense of height and creates a striking canvas for the neon lighting that traces the main walkways and defines the ceiling feature above the central stage.
Complementing the concrete-look flooring, vintage tiles are used to accent key zones such as the tasting bar and the best-selling display columns, subtly guiding visitors through the space.
At the heart of the shop is the activation area with the tasting bar—making customer service a central focus.
Trendy brands are showcased here and can be sampled—sometimes gin, sometimes whisky, or wine & champagne, depending on the theme, even in combination.
Right next to it, customers can easily and conveniently pick up their pre-ordered items at the Click & Collect counter.
And for those who didn’t quite make it—or who are still full of fond memories of Düsseldorf’s Old Town and its beer gardens—there’s a final chance to capture a moment at the beer garden selfie point.
Both sides of the shop are connected to create a unified shopping experience using architectural design. The existing floor pattern of the airport is extended with black tiles, densified at the entrances to create a stopping effect and visually link the two shops. Above, a ceiling of designer lights spans the walkway, connecting both shop areas. The blue best-seller columns stand out at the entrances on both sides, signaling their connection
